What is spam?
Spam is generally understood to mean unsolicited electronic marketing, often sent in bulk and without a valid basis for contacting the recipient. It is sometimes described as junk mail or unsolicited commercial email.
Parry Digital aims to use permission-based and otherwise lawful email marketing practices, and does not knowingly support indiscriminate or harvested bulk email.
What laws apply?
Parry Digital is based in the United Kingdom, so our electronic marketing activities are governed primarily by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), alongside applicable UK data protection law.
The rules vary depending on the type of recipient and how their contact details were obtained. Individual subscribers generally require consent unless a valid legal exception applies. Different PECR rules can apply to corporate subscribers.
Why you may receive email from us
We operate a number of websites, online services and digital properties covering different subjects and interests. You may receive email from us because you have previously interacted with one of those websites or services.
This may include making a purchase, requesting information, submitting a form, creating an account, joining a list, downloading or requesting a free offer, or otherwise providing your email address directly in connection with one of our websites or services.
Where marketing communications are sent, we aim to do so only where permitted under applicable electronic-marketing rules. This may be because you asked to receive information, gave valid consent, or because an existing customer or enquiry relationship meets the requirements of an applicable legal exception such as the products-and-services soft opt-in.
We do not knowingly send indiscriminate unsolicited bulk email, and we do not treat a publicly available email address as automatic permission to send marketing.
Our anti-spam policy
We do not knowingly send spam. Our communications are intended for people who have had a genuine interaction with one of our websites, online services or digital properties, or who have otherwise provided their contact details directly to us in an appropriate context.
Where the products-and-services soft opt-in is relied upon, the contact details must have been obtained directly during a sale or genuine negotiation for a sale, the marketing must relate to our similar products or services, and a clear opportunity to opt out must have been provided when the details were collected and in each subsequent message.
Unsubscribe control
Marketing emails sent by Parry Digital should include a clear and straightforward method to unsubscribe. Recipients may change their mind at any time.
When a valid unsubscribe or objection is received, we will stop using the relevant contact details for the marketing covered by that request and may retain the minimum information needed on a suppression list so the address is not accidentally re-added later.
Sender identification
Parry Digital marketing communications must not disguise or conceal the identity of the sender. Messages should provide a valid means of contacting us and a working way to opt out of future marketing.
Email lists and address sourcing
- We do not knowingly use harvested or scraped email addresses for unsolicited marketing.
- Publicly available contact details are not automatically treated as permission to send marketing email.
- A third-party list is not treated as valid merely because a supplier describes it as “opted in”. Any consent relied upon must actually cover the relevant sender or service and the method of communication being used.
- The products-and-services soft opt-in does not apply to a third-party marketing list because the contact details must have been obtained directly by us.
- Invalid, bounced, unsubscribed and otherwise suppressed addresses may be excluded from future campaigns.
Third-party email services
Parry Digital may use hosting providers, mailing software or other service providers to help deliver communications. Using a third-party service does not transfer responsibility for our own marketing. Where another organisation processes personal information on our behalf, appropriate contractual and data-protection arrangements should be in place.
Complaints and suspected spam
If you believe you have received an unwanted marketing message from Parry Digital, or believe our systems have been misused, please contact us at jonathan@parrydigital.uk.
Please include enough information to identify the message, such as the recipient address, approximate date and subject line. This will help us investigate the issue and, where appropriate, suppress the address from future marketing.
Changes to this policy
This Anti-Spam Policy may be updated as Parry Digital's services, marketing systems or legal obligations change. The current version published on this website will apply from the date shown below. Material changes may also be reflected in related privacy or marketing information where appropriate.
